Sometimes it is a toilet.
Sometimes it is a puddle.
Sometimes it is a spilled glass.
Either way, water is the mortal enemy of your cell phone. When you phone happens to collide with water there are a few things you can do to perform cell phone water damage repair quickly and hopefully save your phone.
Check the Battery
If your phone happens to fall into water, the first thing you should check is the battery. Once you remove the battery, check the LDI or liquid damage indicator. It is a small sticker placed near the battery that changes color if the battery has been exposed to water. If the color has changed, your phone’s warranty will probably be void. However, if it isn’t, see if you can file a claim with your cell phone provider.
Try a Different Battery
Sometimes liquid can cause parts of the phone like the battery to short-circuit. The phone still works but the battery might be kaput. See if you can ask your cell phone provider to try a different battery at their store. Or ask a friend with a same phone if you can borrow their battery for a moment. If the phone powers on you may just need a new battery.
Overnight in Rice
Rice is known for absorbing flavors and sauces but it can also be a lifesaver if your phone meets water. Fill a bag full of whatever rice you have around the house and place the phone inside the bag and leave alone overnight. Pray and hope for the best in the morning.
